The start point is approximately 1 mile inside Fetteresso Forest at an old quarry site. Access is gained through the Hill of Quithel entrance, which is 5 miles off the A90 directly north of Drumlithie.
This is the area of the forest used for the event. It takes in Fetteresso, Drumtochty North and Drumtochty South. Some years there are points in Durris Forest which is just off the top of the map beyond the Stonehaven to Banchory Road (The Slug)
