Rules & Regulations

All competitors must register at the event center between 8:00am and 10:00am on the morning of the event.

The start will be at 11:00am and the finishing time is 4:00pm

You don't have to be out all the time and can finish when you want but will have less time to pick up points. Remember if you are late back then you start loosing points.

IMPORTANT

All competitors must report to the event center on completion of the course or in leaving the competition for any reason. This is to avoid search parties being sent out.

Each competitor/team must have with them at all times the following kit. Please bear in mind that the event is to take place in a fairly remote forest:

Waterproof jacket, tool kit (minimum puncture repair and pump), first aid kit, cycle helmet, whistle, compass, food and water. An A3 printed laminated map will be issued on the day. If you want to also bring your own map it is OS No.45. Your bike should also be in good serviceable condition. It is recommended that individuals also carry a pen (waterproof), adequate clothing, a mobile phone (only if you have one), copious amounts of energy and an unending sense of humour.

For the safety of all competitors and other forest users the following rules must be adhered to:

Give way to pedestrians and horses.

  1. No smoking in the forest area. (Forest Enterprise ruling)
  2. All entrants must adhere to the Highway code whilst on the public roads.
  3. If entering as a team, team mates must remain in vocal contact at all times, and must visit checkpoints together and finish together.
  4. At no time should a competitor leave their bike. Anyone visiting a check point without their bike will have the points for that check point deducted.
  5. The team with the highest total number of points collected minus penalties will determine the winner/s of each category. These penalties will be shown on the route cards handed out on the day. Should there be two teams with the same score then the team with the lower time will win.
  6. There must be a minimum of three competitors/teams to form a category otherwise entrants will be put into the nearest possible category.

The graduated penalty scheme is as follows:-

  • Between 1 and 9 minutes late = 5 points per minute
  • Between 10 and 19 minutes late = 10 points per minute
  • Between 20 and 30 minutes late = 20 points per minute
  • Over 30 minutes late – all points lost
