About the Challenge
The Great Drumtochty Challenge
The Great Drumtochty Challenge is a one day mountain bike orienteering competition which was started in 1998 by the Brechin Cycle Club. We have just completed fifteen very successful events and are looking forward to our sixteenth in 2013. The event has gained a following among mountain bikers from all over Scotland.
The event is based on the tried and tested "Polaris" format and as such we would like to thank all the Polaris team for inspiring this event.
In 2013 we will be hosting the 16th Great Drumtochty Challenge. The event is Scotland's longest running mountain bike event and new to 2012 was the corporate class sponsored by 
The Great Drumtochty Challenge is a 5 hour mountain bike orienteering competition which is open to all abilities of cyclist, family, solo, team, mixed and all ages with categories from Parent and Offspring to Super veteran.
Based in the forests of Fetteresso, Durris and Strathfinella the event can easily be reached from the A90 5 miles west of Stonehaven.
New Category for 2012
TGDC are delighted to anounce another new category for 2012. In conjunction with Swire Oilfield Services there will be a corporate category this year. A Corporate Team must be team of four and must be employed by same company or work in same location i.e. parent company and contractor. Only one team category with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (team may be male, female or mixed and no age splits). All other rules apply. As well as voucher prizes for corporate class there will also be a trophy which will be held by the winners for one year.
New Sponsor for 2012
TGDC are delighted to announce a new sponsor for 2012. Swire Oilfield Services are dipping their toe in the water this year and are sponsoring the new corporate category in 2012.
TGDC is hoping to build the event and, along with Swire Oilfield Services, have a longer term strategy to develop the event over the next 5 years.
